Established in the academic year 2015-16, the Indian Institute of Information Technology Lucknow is one of the leading colleges in Uttar Pradesh. In the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, the Central Government establishes 20 IIITs, including IIIT Lucknow. A total of 50 students were accepted into IIIT Lucknow's inaugural batch of B. Tech. students in information technology for the 2015–16 academic year. It currently provides its students with all the educational and non-academic facilities they need to thrive and serve the country in their technological concerns. Candidates who pass the JEE (Mains) exam get admitted through central counselling.
The Indian Institute of Information Technology Lucknow offers a total of 4 UG, 3 PG, and PhD curriculums. The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) selects students for the Institute's four-year B.Tech. Program in IT based on their JEE (Mains) 2025 scores. The number of seat intakes for each of the BTech curriculums is 60. Likewise, candidates must have a valid GATE 2025 score for admission into the PG curriculums, followed by the CCMT/ CCMN counselling process. Candidates for admission into the MBA courses must have passed class 10+2 and graduated in any discipline with at least 50% marks. Admissions into the MBA curriculum are made through CUET (PG) results. For all the research-based curriculums, candidates must have cleared class 10+2+3 with 60% marks (5% for reserved ones), with CSIR/ UGC/ DAE/ NBHM/ DST/ DBT/ ICAR/ ICMR/ ICPR scores.
IIIT Lucknow is also known for lucrative placement offerings to its graduates. The institute is also known for 100% placement offerings. According to the official website, IIIT Lucknow's highest placement for BTech and MTech students in 2023 was INR 59 LPA and INR 45 LPA, respectively. Furthermore, IIIT Lucknow's BTech and MTech graduates received average packages of INR 31 LPA and INR 23 LPA, respectively. Additionally, BTech and MTech students received median packages of INR 25 LPA and INR 18.5 LPA, respectively. BTech and MTech graduates' placement rates were 100% and 90.62%, respectively. Additionally, all PhD applicants received offers at the 2023 placements at IIIT Lucknow, with the highest salary being INR 29 LPA. The leading recruiting firms offering placements to IIIT Lucknow graduates are Amazon, Capgemini, Infosys, American Express, Deloitte, etc.
