The Institute of Hotel Management Shri Shakti, Hyderabad, was established in 1972 as the “Food Craft Institute Society” under the Andhra Pradesh Public Societies Act. Later in 1984, the Govt. of India upgraded the institute to IHM Hyderabad. The institute works under the academic jurisdiction of the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), set up by the Department of Tourism, Govt. of India. In the academic year 2002-03, the 3-Year Diploma course was transformed into a 3-Year B.Sc. course in Hospitality & Hotel Administration, and the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi offer Certificate courses. IHM Hyderabad also participates in the 'Hunar Se Rozgar' program sponsored by the Government of India, Ministry of Tourism, which offers various courses in Food Production, F&B Service, House-Keeping, and Bakery to refine skills of unemployed youth so that they can quickly get a job. The Hunar Se Rozgar program includes a stipend and placement assistance for successful candidates seeking jobs in various organizations. IHM Shri Shakti Hyderabad admissions to UG and PG courses are offered online. Admission is granted based on the candidate’s performance in JEE.
