Kerala Media Academy is an autonomous institution under the Government of Kerala. It was established in 1979 as the Kerala Press Academy to promote professionalism and excellence in the media industry. The academy is a collaboration between the government,  KUWJ(Kerala Union of Working Journalists), and the Indian Newspaper Society, managed by councils of journalists, media owners, and government representatives. It has nurtured future media professionals and fostered a healthy media culture for over four decades. The academy offers media courses, supports research, encourages technological advancements, and hosts events at state, national, and international levels to promote discussions on media freedom and industry-related topics.
