NCERT created five institutions in 1963, including the Regional Institute of Education in Mysore, also known as RIEM. The institute provides a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and diploma programs. It provides undergraduate courses in B.A., B.Ed., and B.Sc. B.Ed., postgraduate courses in M.Ed. and M.Sc.Ed., and doctoral programs in education, psychology, and botany. Diploma courses are also available. The Institute's four departments are the Department of Education (DE), which serves as its central division, the Department of Education in Science and Mathematics (DESM), the Department of Education in Social Science and Humanities (DESSH), and the Department of Extension Education (DEE). All courses are admitted based on the results of the NCERT-CEE entrance exam and an interview, in which the CEE score is worth 60% and the total marks (for the relevant topics) from the most recent qualifying exam are worth 40%. In recent years, RIE Mysore has had an impressive 100% campus placement rate. Campus recruitment efforts have resulted in an increasing number of students being placed each year.
