The scheme to establish the Institute of Hotel Management Indore, M.P. (SIHM) was introduced in 2012. The institute is affiliated with the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) Noida. This institute is financially and administratively under the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Aspiring students may apply online or even offline for admission into SIHM. The placement process at the State Institute of Hotel Management is as follows:

• Interested students give their names to the placement cell.
• The company performs a selection process either online or offline.
• Following the selection process, the company issues offer letters to chosen candidates, specifying job details, location, and terms.
• The selected candidates' names are shared with the placement cell. Withdrawal after accepting an offer renders a candidate ineligible for further placements.
