Uttarakhand Open University (UOU) is the first and only open university established in the state of Uttarakhand, with the aim of offering distance learning education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The State Government Act established the university in 2005 and got recognition from DEC and UGC.
- Uttarakhand Open University (UOU) invites applications for its courses in two cycles of which, the first being the Summer Session and the other being the Winter Session.
- One session's application is not valid for another session.

- In case of admissions to B. Yogic Science learners having a diploma in Yoga and Naturopathy from UOU may apply directly into second year.

Important Points for PG Admission:
- In the case of MCA and MSCIT candidates not having Mathematics at the 10+2 level or graduation, they will have to pass one qualifying Mathematics paper.
- For admission into LLM reserved category candidates are given 5% relaxation.
- Some courses follow a semester system while others are based on an annual examination system.

The university also provides Post Graduate Diplomas in different areas of specializations. To be eligible, one has to be a graduate degree holder. Admission to PGDs is done mostly on a first come first serve basis.
The university also provides professional courses viz. MBA and PGDM in Marketing and HR. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of reserved category candidates). Uttarakhand Open University (UOU) Application Process
Applications are invited for summer and winter session where candidates can apply on-line as well as through Offline mode. Candidates are directed to strictly follow the following directives to apply successfully.
Online Mode:
Applicants need to read carefully the instructions available on the online admission portal before applying. Candidates are advised to prepare scanned copies of the documents given below while filling the Online Admission Form:

- Self-declaration form duly filled and signed by the candidate.
- Now, fill the required details in the online application form carefully.
- The application form cost is INR 250 and an extra amount of INR 250 will be charged for late submission.
- Entrance exam fee to be paid by aspirants who want to pursue MBA and PG Diploma in management courses INR 1000
- For online mode payment can be done through payment gateway-debit/credit card or through Net Banking
- Offline payment can also be done in BOB/ SBI Bank Challan.
- Take a print out of the application form and submit it to the study center along with testimonials.
Offline Mode:
- The prospectus along with application form can also be obtained from the concerned Study Centers or the University Headquarters by paying the requisite fee.
- Applicants shall enclose the self-attested photocopies of their original document and a signed certificate in the given format.
