CLAT Counselling Procedure 2025
The CLAT 2025 centralised counselling process is conducted entirely online. Check out the following outlined section for the admission process for CLAT participating NLUs:
Step 1: Publication of 1st Indicative Seat Allotment List
The CLAT 2025 authorities have published the university-wise first allotment list online. This list is based on merit-cum-preference of candidates. The 1st allotment list can be accessed from the CLAT website directly.
Step 2: Payment of Counselling Fee and Exercising Options
Candidates called for online counselling from various categories must pay a counselling fee of INR 30,000 for general categories and INR 20,000 for reserved categories. Failure to deposit this fee by the deadline will result in the candidate's removal from the CLAT 2025 merit list. Seats can only be reserved upon successful payment of this fee.
Step 3: Publishing the Second List
The Consortium of NLU authority will release a second list containing the names of candidates who have paid the counselling fee and reserved their seats. A list of waitlisted candidates will also be released to fill spots left by dropped-out candidates. Provisionally selected candidates must submit the counselling fee within the specified timeframe to secure their seats.
Step 4: Publishing of Third List of Selected Candidates
The CLAT office will then publish the third list of candidates who have paid the counselling fee and reserved their seats in the participating NLUs. Similar to the second list, a list of waitlisted candidates will also be released against any dropped-out candidates. Provisionally selected candidates must submit the counselling fee within the given time period to reserve their seats.
Step 5: Publishing of Fourth List of Selected Candidates
Provisionally selected candidates can withdraw their seats within a prescribed period, incurring a nominal deduction of INR 10,000 from the submitted counselling fee. No withdrawals are entertained after the last date. The fourth list will contain the names of candidates who have submitted their fees and reserved their seats, including those from the first, second, and third seat allotment lists. Candidates on the fourth list must submit the full fee to their allotted NLU at the time of admission.
Step 6: Completion of Admission Formalities at Allotted NLUs
After final seat allotment, candidates must report to their allotted NLU with the required amount for admission and other fees. Original relevant certificates/documents issued by the competent authority must be presented for document verification. Failure to meet eligibility requirements or report to the allotted NLU will lead to automatic loss of admission claim, and the entire counselling fee of INR 50,000 will be forfeited.
