Extinct Explanation: Extinct species do not exist naturally in their natural habitat anymore but are kept alive through human intervention, such as in zoos or botanical gardens. For example, the Cheetah and Lesser Indian Rhinoceros are considered extinct in the wild but survive under captivity. This classification is part of the IUCN categories of threatened species, where “extinct” specifically applies to such species that survive only in captivity or cultivation and are no longer in the wild.
