The UN agency concerned with the safety and peaceful use of nuclear technology is International Atomic Energy Agency. Explanation: The United Nations and the nuclear age arrived almost simultaneously. The horrors of WWII, culminating in the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, underscored the need to address the nuclear issue. The General Assembly established the UN Atomic Energy Commission in its first resolution to address the issues raised by the discovery of atomic energy. In addition, a landmark speech by United States President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953, "Atoms for Peace," resulted in the establishment of the International Atomic Energy Agency in 1957. (IAEA).
