Use and disuse of organs Explanation: The modern synthetic theory of evolution integrates genetic variability, natural selection, and the genetic basis of adaptation, emphasizing the role of genes and mutations in evolution. It rejects Lamarck’s idea of the use and disuse of organs as a mechanism for evolutionary change, considering it not scientifically supported in the light of genetics and molecular biology.
