Italy Explanation: Italy was initially part of the Triple Alliance with Germany and Austria-Hungary, formed in 1882. However, Italy left the alliance at the beginning of World War I in 1914, choosing to remain neutral. Later, in 1915, Italy joined the Allied Powers after signing the Treaty of London, as the Allies promised territorial rewards from Austria-Hungary’s territories. This shift was motivated by Italy’s desire to gain regions such as South Tyrol and Dalmatian islands.
