AP TET 2025 Key Topics for Paper 1 (Classes I–V)

Candidates preparing for Paper 1 should focus on the following topics under each subject area:

Child Development & Pedagogy

  • Theories of development and learning (for example, cognitive and psychosocial theories appropriate for the primary level).
  • Socialisation, childhood stages, and understanding children in different socio‑cultural contexts.
  • Inclusive education, special needs, classroom interaction, learning styles, and teaching methodology are suitable for young children.

Language I (Optional Regional Language) & Language II (English)

  • Language proficiency, including grammar, vocabulary, and correct usage.
  • Reading comprehension, understanding of passages as language skill assessments.
  • Basic language pedagogy: methods of teaching language to primary school children, language acquisition, and communication skills.

Mathematics

  • Fundamental arithmetic: number system, natural numbers, whole numbers, fractions, decimals, ratios — suitable for primary level.
  • Basic geometry and mensuration: shapes, measurement, basic geometrical concepts.
  • Data handling and basic problem-solving: simple data interpretation, elementary operations — aligned with primary-level mathematics.
  • Pedagogical understanding: how to teach mathematics effectively to young learners.

Environmental Studies (EVS)

  • Fundamental awareness of environment: living world (plants, animals), human environment (family, home, community), natural resources.

AP TET 2025 Key Topics for Paper 2 (Classes VI–VIII)

For candidates aiming at upper-primary level teaching (Classes VI–VIII), Paper 2 syllabus topics include:

Child Development & Pedagogy

  • Growth and development in childhood and adolescence: physical, cognitive, emotional, moral dimensions.
  • Theories of human development — cognitive, psychosocial, moral, emotional — as applicable to older children (6–14 years).
  • Principles of teaching-learning process, inclusive education, classroom management and pedagogy for upper‑primary level.
  • Assessment and evaluation methods, understanding learning difficulties, and fulfilling learning needs.

Language I & Language II

  • For Language I (chosen optional regional language or Sanskrit) — grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and communication skills appropriate for middle school.
  • For English (Language II) — comprehension, grammar, reading and writing skills, communicative competence, language pedagogy for secondary-level learners.

Mathematics & Science OR Social Studies OR Languages (Based on Candidate’s Stream)

Depending on the stream chosen by the candidate, the following topics are crucial:

  • Mathematics & Science: Core mathematical concepts (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data handling) plus science fundamentals appropriate for Classes VI–VIII.
  • Social Studies: History, geography, civics, and social science topics aligned with the middle-school curriculum.
  • Languages: If a candidate opts for language teaching, deeper language skills, grammar, comprehension, and pedagogy at the upper-primary level.

Preparation Strategy Based on AP TET 2025 Syllabus

This strategy for AP TET 2025 focuses on syllabus-based preparation, prioritising Child Development, subject-wise fundamentals, pedagogy concepts, and using state syllabus textbooks for effective and exam-oriented study.

  • Begin with Child Development & Pedagogy, since it is common to both papers. Understanding child psychology, development stages and inclusive pedagogy helps in both Paper 1 and 2.
  • Choose Language I carefully. If the regional language or first language was studied up to class X, that should be opted, as per the eligibility rules.
  • Focus on core subjects: For Paper 1 — Mathematics and EVS, demand regular practice of basics. For Paper 2 — Strengthen either Mathematics & Science or Social Studies, depending on the stream.
  • Pay attention to pedagogical aspects — many questions test not only subject knowledge but also teaching methodology, inclusive education, and child-centric teaching.
  • Use textbooks for Classes VI to X (state syllabus) if preparing for Paper 2, as the syllabus links to the state syllabus for these classes.

Wrapping Up

The syllabus of AP TET 2025 demands a balanced preparation covering both content knowledge and pedagogy. Mastery in Child Development & Pedagogy forms the base. For Paper 1 (Classes I–V), emphasis should be on foundational topics in Mathematics, EVS, and languages. For Paper 2 (Classes VI–VIII), a deeper understanding of subject-specific content (Mathematics & Science or Social Studies) along with pedagogy is essential. Candidates should prioritise the topics mentioned above to ensure efficient and goal‑oriented preparation for AP TET 2025.
