CEPT University has opened applications for its postgraduate programs offered by the Faculty of Architecture for the 2026 academic cycle. The programs focus on specialised learning in areas such as conservation, housing, interior design, landscape architecture, architectural technology and architectural history.
CEPT University PG Architecture Curriculum and Learning Approach
CEPT University follows a studio-based learning model, where students work in small groups under expert faculty guidance. The postgraduate curriculum at CEPT University is designed as a specialised learning phase rather than an extension of undergraduate studies. Students engage with coursework conducted across regular semesters as well as summer and winter schools. They also get access to campus resources including workshops, software labs, libraries, archives and material laboratories. The programs also connect students with a network of professionals from India and abroad.
According to Sameep Padora, Dean, Faculty of Architecture, postgraduate education in architecture should focus on developing clear thinking and technical understanding. He said the studios at CEPT University encourage students to work with real constraints, experiment with ideas and develop an independent design approach.
Postgraduate Programs Offered at CEPT University Faculty of Architecture
The Faculty of Architecture at CEPT University offers six postgraduate programs, each focusing on a specific area of the built environment. Programs offered are:
Master’s in Landscape Architecture (MLA)
The Master’s in Landscape Architecture program focuses on the relationship between landscape, ecology and society. The curriculum addresses environmental, social and urban challenges and trains students to work across different scales - from regional landscapes and watersheds to urban public spaces. Graduates from this program join a network of more than 500 professionals working in practice, research and academia.
Master’s in Interior Design (MID)
The Master’s in Interior Design (MID) program combines interdisciplinary learning with practical exposure. Students learn about emerging design technologies, materials and industry practices. The program also offers opportunities for international exchanges, industry collaborations and placement support. Graduates work in design studios, consultancies, academic institutions and design organisations in India and abroad.
M.Arch in Housing Design
The M.Arch in Housing Design program focuses on housing challenges in India. It explores ways to design housing that is socially responsive, economically feasible and environmentally responsible. The program follows a choice-based curriculum, allowing students to select studios and courses based on their interests. Students also participate in workshops with practitioners and international collaborators.
Master’s in Conservation and Regeneration (MCR)
The Master’s in Conservation and Regeneration program focuses on the preservation and adaptive reuse of historic environments. The curriculum connects history, architecture, technology and urban design to address current conservation needs. It prepares students to work in areas such as heritage conservation, redevelopment of historic areas and policy-related projects.
Master of Architectural Tectonics (MAT)
The Master of Architectural Tectonics program studies the relationship between architecture, construction and technology. Students work with drawing, computational tools, prototyping and full-scale material experiments to understand how buildings are designed and constructed. The program focuses on developing knowledge of materials, detailing and structural systems.
Master’s in Architectural History and Research (MAHR)
The Master’s in Architectural History and Research (MAHR) program helps students study the built environment from a historical and analytical perspective. Through research, drawing, archival work and writing, students develop skills useful for research, conservation, policy, publishing, teaching and curatorial work.

About CEPT University
CEPT University was established 1962 as the School of Architecture in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It is known for offering education and research in architecture, planning, design, technology and urban management. The university is recognised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India, as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO). It also maintains over 30 collaborations and exchange partnerships with international universities.
In December 2023, the Government of India recognised CEPT University as a Centre of Excellence in Urban Planning and Design with an endowment of INR 250 crore for research and training over the next 25 years. The university currently has five faculties: Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Planning, Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Design and Faculty of Management.
