Update on 4 Dec, 2025, 06:58 PM IST

Before going to the exam centre, candidates must ensure they have the CSIR NET 2025 Admit Card printed from the NTA website. The admit card is provisional and specifies the candidate’s centre, date, shift and reporting time. No candidate will be permitted entry without the printed Admit Card shown in original form. Candidates must also carry one passport-size photograph (the same as uploaded in the application) and one valid original government photo ID, such as Aadhaar Card (with photograph) / Passport / Voter ID / Driving Licence / School Identity Card / PAN Card / Aadhar Enrolment Slip.

If a name change has occurred after registration, the candidate must bring the legally valid document proving the change (marriage certificate, gazette notification, etc.). Candidates should carefully confirm the documents. The CSIR NET 2025 admission process at the centre requires physical verification and pasting of the photograph on attendance records. Misplaced or mismatched documents will lead to the denial of entry. Candidates must retain copies of confirmation and fee receipts for future reference. The centre staff will verify identity carefully, and no duplicate admit card will be issued at the centre.

  • Print a copy of the Admit Card downloaded from the NTA website.
  • One passport-size photograph (same as uploaded).
  • One original, valid government photo ID (must match name on Admit Card).
  • PwD certificate, if claiming PwD concession.

CSIR NET 2025 Reporting Time and Shift Details

The Joint CSIR-UGC NET December 2025 exam is scheduled for 18th December 2025. The exam runs for 180 minutes with two shifts. Candidates must follow the reporting times assigned to their shift to complete pre-exam formalities. These times are fixed on the admit card and must be followed strictly. Early arrival helps complete biometric and identity checks without last-minute delay. Candidates should note the exact shift and reporting time on the Admit Card. Gate closing time and reporting time are set to prevent overcrowding and ensure smooth conduct of the test. Candidates arriving after the gate closing time will not be admitted. The reporting times also allow for seating, biometric capture and instructions before the test begins.

  • Exam date: 18th December 2025.
  • Shift 1 (Morning): 09:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. Reporting time: 07:30 a.m.
  • Shift 2 (Evening): 03:00 p.m. to 06:00 p.m. Reporting time: 01:30 p.m..

CSIR NET 2025 Computer Based Test (CBT) Procedure and Biometric Verification

The Joint CSIR-UGC NET is conducted in CBT mode. Each candidate will be assigned a computer terminal. Before the exam starts, the candidate must log in as instructed and follow the on-screen guidelines. The NTA has detailed the CBT procedure and the sequence of steps that take place at the centre; candidates must familiarise themselves with these steps in advance. The centre will capture biometric information (fingerprint and photograph) of all candidates. Identity checks will be strict to prevent impersonation. Candidates must cooperate with invigilators and security staff for frisking and biometric capture. Any candidate who fails biometric verification may not be allowed to take the test. Candidates should also confirm that the question paper on the terminal matches the opted subject and notify the invigilator immediately if a mismatch appears.

  • Computer login and on-screen instructions must be followed exactly.
  • Biometric fingerprint and photograph capture is mandatory.
  • Candidates must sit at the allotted seat only and follow invigilator instructions.
  • If the question paper subject is incorrect on the screen, inform the invigilator immediately.

CSIR NET 2025 Prohibited Items and Centre Rules

The NTA explicitly lists materials and items that are not permitted inside the examination centre. Candidates found in possession of prohibited items risk cancellation of candidature and possible legal action. Bags and belongings are not allowed inside the examination hall; NTA is not responsible for personal items left outside. Candidates must prepare to undergo security checks and must not bring any of the forbidden items inside the premises.

Prohibited items include electronic devices, notes, and any materials that could aid unfair means. Candidates must not carry any baggage. Centre staff may confiscate prohibited items and report violations. It is safer to leave all disallowed items at home rather than risk disqualification.

  • Mobile phones, earphones, smartwatches or any electronic gadget — strictly prohibited.
  • Calculators, slides, log tables, written notes, chits or loose sheets — not allowed.
  • Bags, purses, wallets, study material — not permitted inside the centre.
  • Any item with metallic parts that may cause delay during security checks — avoid wearing.

CSIR NET 2025 Day Checklist for Candidates

A final checklist helps avoid last-minute issues. Candidates must ensure compliance with the admit card instructions and the Information Bulletin. Preserve the admit card and scorecard for future admission and fellowship formalities. Any discrepancy in documents should be resolved with supporting legal evidence before the exam day. The NTA help desk is available for issues regarding admit card download. Review the Admit Card twice, organise required documents in one folder, and reach the centre well before the reporting time. Keep calm and follow invigilator's instructions on the day.

  • Admit Card (printed) — check date, centre, shift and reporting time.
  • Original Govt. photo ID — ensure name matches the Admit Card.
  • Passport-size photograph — same as uploaded.
  • Arrive by reporting time and cooperate for biometric checks.
  • Do not carry prohibited items; no baggage allowed.
