How to Choose the Right Domain Subject in CUET 2025?
Students who opt for the wrong domain subject will automatically become ineligible to secure their name in the merit list released by each participating university. In simpler words, domain subjects must be chosen with utmost care, analysis, and research. For instance, suppose a candidate has opted for Economics, Mathematics, and Accountancy in their domain subject as he/she wishes to take admission in the B.A (Hons) Economics. However, the candidate did not study mathematics in their 12th grade. This will make the candidate ineligible to apply for the preferred course and may have to look for other options. Thus, before choosing the subjects, candidates must follow the below-mentioned steps:
- Make a list of Courses: Before choosing any subject, candidates first must make a list of courses they have an interest in and wish to pursue at the undergraduate level.
- Research University Requirements: Once the candidate has finalized a list, he/she must check whether they satisfy the requirements of university. For instance, checking whether the course requires candidates to have mandatorily studied the subject at 12th-grade level and whether the program is suitable as per the candidate’s background.
- Check the Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must also check the eligibility criteria such as minimum percentage, minimum age limit (if applicable), and mandatory set of subjects at higher secondary level.
- Seek Guidance: Students who are unable to decide which subject they must choose from the domain list can seek guidance from mentors, online platforms, and other professinal experts.

CUET 2025 Preparation Strategy
For the academic session 2025-2026, the UGC has made several changes in the pattern and syllabus of the CUET exam. Earlier, each section of the exam was required to be completed in the range of 45 to 60 minutes. In addition, not all questions were mandatory to attempt. However, from this year onwards, each section will follow the same duration of 60 minutes and all the questions will be compulsory to attempt. In the light of these changes, students must devise an effective preparation strategy and follow the suggested tips provided below:
- Understand the updated syllabus: Before appearing for the CUET 2025, students must take a look at the updated syllabus.
- Create a study plan: Once the candidates understand every aspect of the examination, the next step would be to devise a study line that is both effective and doable. It must allocate time for each subject and provide additional time to weaker areas.
- Attempt mock tests: Before initiating the preparation, candidates are advised to attempt a mock test to determine where they stand in the preparation level. Further, once they have covered all subjects, mock tests must be attempted on a regular basis.
- Choose the right study materials: Instead of juggling between multiple sources and books, students are advised to stick to certain sources and revise them multiple times to boost their quality of preparation.
