Bhubaneswar, May 17, 2026: The 13th International Art of Giving Day was celebrated with immense enthusiasm, uniting millions of people across 190 countries and six continents. Founded by the visionary educationist and philanthropist Dr. Achyuta Samanta, this massive civic movement promotes selfless kindness, peace, and social harmony worldwide.

 

This year, the movement expanded its digital and physical footprint significantly, with supporters participating across 50,000 international locations. The celebration covered all 222 FIVB member nations, all Indian states and Union Territories, and touched every district, block, and panchayat in Odisha.

Key Highlights of Art of Giving Day 2026

 

Spreading Joy Through Sports: The "Share to Shine" Initiative

To celebrate this year's theme, "Share to Shine," a massive sports outreach program was launched across Odisha. Inspired by Dr. Achyuta Samanta’s dedication to youth development and sportsmanship, volunteers distributed 9,100 volleyballs and nets at more than 3,000 locations. The initiative aims to build friendship, team spirit, and harmony among young people in rural and urban areas alike.

 

"What I am today is entirely because of the concept of the 'Art of Giving.' The immense warmth, love, and affection I receive from people is a direct reflection of this movement," said Dr. Achyuta Samanta, who is also the founder of KIIT and KISS.

 

Across the globe and throughout India, a week-long series of events took place, including community kitchens, blood donation drives, tree plantation campaigns, and educational outreach programs for underprivileged communities.

 

Grand Celebration in Bhubaneswar: Star-Studded Event

A mega event marking the 13th anniversary was hosted in Bhubaneswar, attracting prominent public figures, spiritual leaders, and icons from the sports and entertainment industries.

 

A major highlight of the evening was the official launch of the Art of Giving theme song, beautifully performed by renowned Bollywood playback singer Shaan. The star-studded guest list included:

Honoring Real-Life Heroes: The AOG Hero Awards 2026

In keeping with annual tradition, the prestigious AOG Hero Awards were presented to individuals making exceptional contributions to social welfare. The 2026 awardees included:
