Bhubaneswar, 24 April 2026, KIIT Deemed University has secured the 6th position among all universities in India, across both government and private institutions, in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2026. The university has also emerged as the top-ranked institution across the entire eastern region of India, including Odisha. This marks a notable improvement from its 8th position nationally in 2025.
On the global stage, KIIT has climbed to 169th in Asia, reflecting a steady rise from 196th in 2024 and 184th in 2025.
The THE Asia University Rankings 2026 evaluated 929 universities from 36 countries across five key performance areas: teaching environment, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry income. KIIT's consistent improvement across these parameters is particularly remarkable given its standing as a relatively young institution that has outperformed many established and legacy institutes.
Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS, praised the achievement, noting that it reflects the sustained commitment of the university's faculty, staff, and students toward academic excellence. He credited KIIT's focus on internationalisation and innovation for building a world-class academic ecosystem, reinforcing its position as a leading centre of higher education in India and beyond.
