Chandigarh, 21 April 2026, Lamrin Tech Skills University (LTSU), Punjab, organised its Industry-Academia-HR Meet 2026 at Chandigarh, culminating in a historic MoU signing with the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BoAT), Northern Region, Kanpur, for the implementation of Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programmes (AEDP).
This is the first of its kind in North India. It enables students to earn a government-approved dual degree alongside a recognised apprenticeship, with the added benefit of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The programme follows a simple yet powerful principle: students will earn, learn, and grow simultaneously.
The initiative aims to connect academic learning with industry needs by integrating apprenticeships into degree programmes, in line with the National Education Policy. More than 125 HR professionals and industry representatives attended, creating a strong platform for industry-academia dialogue.
Mr. Vivek Kumar, Director, BoAT Northern Region, delivered key insights and addressed queries from the audience. Chancellor Mr. Nirmal Singh Rayat expressed confidence in the programme's outcomes, while Vice Chancellor Dr. A.S. Chawla highlighted its alignment with NEP guidelines.
Mr. Sachin Jain, Executive Director and Corporate Relations, summed up the vision powerfully: "From Parliament to pan shops, everyone is discussing why graduates are unemployed. The real solution lies in offering degrees that combine academic learning with hands-on industry exposure. At Lamrin Tech Skills University, Punjab, we are proud to be pioneers in this model, and thousands of students from 24 states are choosing to study with us."
Mr. Abhinav Madan, MD & CEO, and Mr. Vaibhav from Lernern Pvt. Ltd. also shared their industry experiences. Prof. B.S. Satyal, Registrar, delivered the vote of thanks, and Mr. Gajay Patial, Assistant Director, BoAT, was among the senior functionaries present. The event marks a defining step in India's push towards skill-integrated education, setting a precedent for universities across the country.
