Parul University Vadodara has established a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Advanced Manufacturing Research and Technology in collaboration with the Industrial Commissionerate, Government of Gujarat. The total project cost is INR 6 crore, with INR 1.17 crore provided by the Government of Gujarat. The Centre is designed to support research, innovation, and hands-on learning in advanced manufacturing, connecting students and faculty with real industrial challenges and modern technologies. It focuses on practices related to Industry 4.0 and the requirements of the future manufacturing sector.
The Centre will strengthen university-industry partnerships through collaborative research, industrial testing, technology support, and consultancy services. It will work on projects such as product and process optimization, prototyping, testing, and technology validation, helping both MSMEs and large-scale industries address practical manufacturing problems. The CoE will also provide training programs, certification courses, and workshops in advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing, and will support postgraduate programs, internships, and thesis research aligned with industry needs.
With advanced research infrastructure, the Centre will enable faculty-led and student-driven projects, promoting problem-solving, innovation, and applied research. Students will gain hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing technologies, work on live industrial projects, and participate in structured training programs. This will help them develop technical skills, improve employability, and prepare for the workforce.
Dr. Unnati Joshi, Chief Research Officer at Parul University and Principal Investigator of the project, stated that the CoE will act as a bridge between the university and industry, allowing students and teachers to learn from real-world challenges. Dr. Geetika Madan Patel, Vice-President (Quality, Research & Health Sciences) at Parul University, added that the Centre supports the university’s goal of building a strong research and innovation ecosystem. It will provide practical research solutions for industries and benefit the wider community.
Overall, the Centre is expected to contribute to regional industrial growth and workforce development, supporting Gujarat’s vision of becoming a hub for advanced manufacturing and innovation.
