Ashoka University: Admission 2026, Courses, Fees, Placement and Scholarship

Ashoka University is a private, fully residential university located in Rajiv Gandhi Education City, Sonepat, Haryana. Established in 2014, the university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes with a strong focus on liberal arts, sciences, interdisciplinary learning and research. Ashoka University has been operating for more than 10 years and currently combines undergraduate teaching, postgraduate education and research on a 25-acre residential campus. The university is located in Sonepat, close to Delhi and the National Capital Region.

The university's undergraduate programme is designed around interdisciplinary learning. Students are not required to lock in their final Major immediately after admission. Major preferences mentioned during the application are indicative, while the formal Major is declared by the end of the third semester.

Ashoka University Courses and Fees 2026

Ashoka University offers programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The four-year undergraduate programme is the largest academic offering, while postgraduate options include M.A. Economics, M.A. English and the Young India Fellowship.

The university currently lists 13 pure majors and 12 interdisciplinary majors at the undergraduate level. Students also have access to minors, concentrations, co-curricular courses and internships.

Ashoka also offers interdisciplinary majors such as Economics and Finance, Economics and History, English and Creative Writing, English and Media Studies, History and International Relations, Politics, Philosophy and Economics, Mathematics and Computer Science, Computer Science and Entrepreneurial Leadership, and Computer Science and Philosophy.

The curriculum requires students to complete 160 credits for graduation. The Major requires at least 72 credits, although some Majors may require more. Students can also complete a Minor through six courses carrying 24 credits.

Ashoka University Fee Structure 2026

Ashoka University fees vary according to the programme and intake year. The latest published undergraduate fee structure is for the August 2026 intake. The university has not yet published the final UG fee structure for the August 2027 intake.

The first-year UG fee is INR 12,90,400 before the fixed minimum meal charge and other actual expenses.

Students also have to pay one-time amounts at the time of offer confirmation. These include an admissions fee of INR 50,000, a security deposit of INR 75,000 and an acceptance fee of INR 10,000. The latest undergraduate fee page lists all three as refundable.

A minimum meal charge of INR 10,000 per semester is applicable. Students consuming meals beyond the fixed minimum are charged based on actual consumption. The university states that annual fees can be revised because of inflation. It also notes that fees increased by around 5% to 8% annually over the previous three years, although this percentage is not fixed.

The M.A. programmes have a considerably lower annual fee than the four-year undergraduate programme. For the August 2026 intake, the M.A. Economics and M.A. English fee structure is as follows:

Ashoka University Admissions 2026

Ashoka University follows a holistic admission process rather than relying only on board marks or a single entrance examination. The university considers academic performance, essays, extracurricular engagement, interests and the applicant's overall profile. For undergraduate admissions, applicants generally go through the application and assessment stage, followed by an interview for shortlisted candidates.

The standard assessment route includes the Ashoka Aptitude Assessment (AAA) and the On-the-Spot Essay (OSE). Students who take the Ashoka Mathematics Challenge (AMC) may follow the AMC + OSE route instead of AAA.

For the August 2027 intake, Ashoka University conducted a special early AMC on August 23, 2026 for students interested in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics and eligible quantitative interdisciplinary majors. The dedicated application window for this early route is open from September 1 to September 15, 2026. Interviews are scheduled to begin from September 19, with decisions for this early round scheduled for October 7, 2026. The regular 2027 undergraduate admission schedule has not yet been officially published.

Ashoka University Eligibility Criteria

For undergraduate admission, applicants must have completed or be completing Class 12 or its equivalent from a recognised board. However, eligibility alone does not guarantee admission. Ashoka University uses a holistic selection process. Academic results are considered along with the student's interests, activities, essays, assessments and interview performance.

The university does not follow a conventional fixed percentage cutoff for UG admission. Therefore, students should not treat unofficial percentages circulating online as an official Ashoka cutoff. For postgraduate programmes, eligibility varies by course. M.A. Economics, for example, accepts applicants with an undergraduate degree in any discipline, subject to the programme's admission requirements.

Ashoka University Cutoff 2026

Ashoka University does not publish a conventional fixed cutoff for undergraduate admission. There is no official Class 12 percentage cutoff, SAT cutoff or AMC score that guarantees admission to every applicant. The university's selection process is holistic. SAT and other standardised scores can form part of an application, but admission is not based solely on a single test score.

For the AMC route, the university evaluates mathematical understanding and logical reasoning. The AMC is a 90-minute assessment, while the mandatory OSE lasts 30 minutes. Applicants should therefore avoid relying on unofficial claims such as a specific 90%, 95% or SAT score as an Ashoka cutoff. Such figures should not be treated as official admission requirements.

Ashoka University Scholarships 2026

Scholarships are a major part of Ashoka University's financial-aid system. The university states that around 44% of students have received some form of financial grant since the undergraduate programme began in 2014. The scholarship structure includes both merit-based and need-based support.

For the 2026 intake, the university announced 500 merit and merit-cum-need-based scholarships. The 2026 portfolio included 50 Special Merit Scholarships and 150 Achievers' Merit Scholarships, along with need-based financial assistance and other scholarship programmes.

The Special Merit Scholarships provide 100% tuition waivers to eligible students with exceptional performance in selected national-level examinations. These include JEE Main, IISER IAT, CMI and the Indian National Olympiads, subject to the university's eligibility conditions. Ashoka University Young India Fellowship

The Young India Fellowship is a one-year residential postgraduate diploma programme in Interdisciplinary Studies. Applicants need a recognised undergraduate degree in any discipline. Final-year undergraduate students can also apply if they meet the programme requirements. There is no age limit for the programme.

For the 2026-27 cohort, Ashoka University states that all Fellows will receive partial or full funding. Every offer includes at least a 25% tuition waiver, while additional need-based support can increase the level of funding. The programme brings together students from different academic and professional backgrounds and focuses on interdisciplinary learning.
