Sagar University Hostel Rules
These six rules are the most important for residents of the Dr Harisingh Gour University hostel. They come from the boys' hostel brochure and the girls' hostel manual.
Admission: Seats are allotted by distance from home town to Sagar. First-time students and those from distant places get preference. Every student must take fresh admission each academic year.
Eligibility: The applicant must be a full-time student. A student with pending disciplinary action or pending dues is not eligible. False information makes the student ineligible.
Timings: Girls' hostel gates close at 8:00 PM and open at 6:00 AM. Late entry up to half an hour costs Rs 20. Later entry costs Rs 100. Boys must follow the entry and exit timings notified by the university.
Mess: Mess is compulsory, except on medical grounds. Meals are eaten only in the dining hall. Leave must be informed in writing at least one day before leaving.
Guests: Boys can meet guests in the visitors' room from 9 AM to 8 PM. Female guests cannot enter boys' rooms. Girls' visitor days are Saturday and Sunday, 6 AM to 8 PM. No guest can stay overnight with residents.
Ragging: Ragging is banned in all Sagar University hostels. Guilty residents are evicted from the hostel without a show-cause notice. They also face legal action.
