  • Library network extends to regional and learner support centres nationwide.

  • Supports both physical and remote users for maximum accessibility.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Facilities: Other Facilities

IGNOU Delhi focuses on creating a supportive environment with amenities for academics, daily needs, and technology. These facilities are designed to help students succeed regardless of study mode.

  • Wi-Fi-enabled campus for digital resource access

  • Cafeteria providing healthy food options for staff and visitors

Basic amenities such as parks, shopping complexes, and play areas are primarily for staff housing and campus community members.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Facilities: Sports & Recreation

Promoting balanced student life, IGNOU’s Delhi campus offers recreational spaces and access to sports, though on a more limited scale compared to traditional universities, given its open university model.

  • Playgrounds available in staff housing areas for informal games and physical activity

  • Parks and children’s play areas within the campus premises

  • Periodic organization of yoga, wellness, or cultural activity camps for health and engagement

Formal, inter-college level sports infrastructure is limited due to the university’s primarily distance learning structure.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Facilities: Innovation & Research

IGNOU is dedicated to advancing research and innovation, particularly in the field of open and distance education. The university facilitates academic research through a range of resources, support structures, and digital platforms.

  • Access to national and international research journals and digital repositories via the central library

  • Specialized divisions and schools, such as the School of Interdisciplinary and Trans-disciplinary Studies (SOITS) and STRIDE (Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education), supporting research and innovation

  • Guidance and support for doctoral and postdoctoral scholars

  • Strong focus on educational technology, curriculum design, and pedagogy research

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Hostel Facilities

Various hostels and PG facilities are accessible in surrounding localities for those who need to be physically present for academic or administrative reasons.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Events & Festivals

IGNOU Delhi hosts several events, ceremonies, and academic functions each year. These initiatives foster community, celebrate achievement, and encourage engagement among the student and academic body.

  • Annual Convocation recognizing degree recipients in New Delhi

  • Academic conferences and seminars in diverse subject areas

  • Workshops, webinars, and guest lectures by experts

  • Cultural activities for staff and student enrichment, though less frequent due to the university’s distributed learner base

  • Commemorative national and international day celebrations

Events are commonly held in the auditorium or virtually through online platforms to ensure the participation of remote learners and faculty.
