The ISHWAR Institute of Prosthetics and Orthotics (IIPO) is one of the first dedicated Prosthetics & Orthotics colleges in Chennai. It was established in 2010, and the first Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics batch was started from 2012‑13 under the International Society for Human Welfare and Rehabilitation. IIPO is affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Guindy, Chennai (the second largest Health Sciences university in India), and its programs are approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi. IIPO offers a single undergraduate program, a 4 and a half year full-time Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics (BPO). Lateral entry into the 3rd year (5th semester) is also available for Diploma holders in Prosthetics & Orthotics from RCI-recognised institutes. As per the 2024‑25 academic year, the institute has completed 13 batches of the BPO programme, with over 65 alumni practising as professionals and more than 52 students enrolled across batches, including 11 interns.
