About NIAB

National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB), Hyderabad, is an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. Established to enhance animal health through sophisticated biotechnology, NIAB is a prominent research centre. It is located in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, and operates on a 100-acre campus with advanced research facilities.

 

NIAB Hyderabad primarily provides doctoral-level education. Over 100 students are now enrolled in the flagship PhD program, working on a variety of animal biotechnology specialisations. The program begins with a six-month coursework requirement, after which students conduct full-time research under the supervision of NIAB researchers. Admission to the PhD program is based on a written test followed by interviews.

 

In addition to the PhD program, NIAB offers a structured Master's Project Work Program for postgraduate students in biological sciences. Final-year students of M.Sc, MVSc, M.Tech, M.Pharm or Integrated M.Sc, with a research component, are eligible to apply. Selection is based on a written test. The program operates in two cycles each year: January to June and July to December. Each project has a minimum duration of six months.
