Admission to NINS is primarily based on the academic merit of the qualifying examination. The application process and eligibility are outlined below. All candidates need to be medically fit, this is one of the eligibility criteria for admissions to all courses.

A.N.M.

  • Age: 17 - 35 years (on or before 31st December of admission year)
  • Education: Class 12th in Arts, Science, or Health Care Science (Vocational) with English from a recognized board.
  • Students from the National Institute of Open School are also eligible.

G.N.M.

  • Age: 17 - 35 years (no age bar for ANM/LHV)
  • Education: Class 12 with Science (PCB & English) or Arts/Health Care Science (Vocational) with 40% marks from a recognized board or NIOS. Vocational ANM (CBSE/equivalent) with 40% marks is also accepted.
  • Registration: Must be a registered ANM with the State Nursing Registration Council

B.Sc.

  • Age: Minimum 17 years on 31st December of the admission year
  • Education: 10+2 with Science (PCB) and English Core/Elective with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks from a recognized board (AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or equivalent).
  • Students from the National Institute of Open School with 45% marks are also eligible

Post Basic B.Sc.

  • Education: Passed 10+2 or equivalent (10+1 before 1986 also eligible).
  • Qualification: Completed GNM and registered as R.N.R.M. with the State Nursing Registration Council.
  • Special Requirement (trained male nurses): Proof of INC approved training in one of the following - O.T. Techniques, Ophthalmic, Leprosy, TB, Psychiatric, Neurological & Neurosurgical, Community Health, Cancer or Orthopedic Nursing.

M.Sc.

  • Education: B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. Hons. Nursing, or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with at least 55% aggregate from an INC recognized institution.
  • Registration: Must be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife (or equivalent) with a State Nursing Registration Council
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing OR 1 year of experience before/after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing
