Newman College, situated in Thodupuzha, Idukki district, Kerala, is a NAAC-accredited institution established in 1964 and affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University. The campus spans 26 acres with a built-up area of 16,555 square metres, offering comprehensive facilities designed to support academic excellence and student development across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes.

Newman College Facilities: Central Library

The Central Library at Newman College serves as a vital academic resource centre, providing access to a comprehensive collection of books, journals, and digital materials. An ICT-enabled auditorium accommodates large academic gatherings and cultural events. The institution maintains 188 computers and laptops, with 158 available for student usage.

 

Specialized facilities include the Msgr. Palamattam Centre for English Communication, a fully air-conditioned facility with 30 computers dedicated to language and communication skills development. The college has also established a dedicated yoga centre offering morning and evening sessions for students, faculty, and the general public. Rev. Dr. John Vallamattam Hall functions as a state-of-the-art conference space with individual microphones at each seat, facilitating seminars, presentations, and academic events.

 

The campus includes well-equipped laboratories for sciences and commerce disciplines, with recently renovated and comprehensively equipped chemistry and computer labs. Prayer rooms, canteen facilities, and a medical/health care unit are available for student welfare. Additional support facilities include a general store, banking/ATM services, staff quarters, and comprehensive CCTV surveillance across campus. The institution provides continuous power supply with 125 kva backup generator, ensuring uninterrupted operations. Wi-Fi connectivity spans the entire campus, enabling seamless digital access for academic and administrative purposes.
