About NIE Mysore

The National Institute of Engineering (NIE), established in 1946, stands today among the top engineering colleges in India, alongside premier institutions such as the IITs and NITs. According to The Week Survey 2025, NIE ranks 9th among South India’s top private engineering colleges and 17th across India. As per the Outlook Magazine Survey 2025, NIE holds the 11th rank among all private institutions in India.

 

NIE is an autonomous institution affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and AICTE. It is also accredited by NAAC, with all undergraduate programs and three postgraduate programs accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, under Tier-I.

 

The faculty is one of NIE’s greatest strengths, dedicated to imparting extensive knowledge through contemporary teaching-learning methods, digital education, and skill development initiatives. To enhance research and consultancy activities, 15 Centres of Excellence have been established in collaboration with industries and alumni. The most recent data on the official website indicates 238 firms came to the school for placement. The highest and average NIE Placement packages are INR 70 LPA and INR 10.5 LPA, respectively.

National Institute of Engineering Courses and Fees 2025

NIE Mysore's major programs are affiliated with VTU, including B.Tech, M.Tech, and MCA. The North Campus offers MCA, while the South Campus offers M.Tech. A number of seats have been set aside by the institute under the Management Quota (MQ). In addition, NIE Mysore has one seat set aside for Sports Quota students who have competed for Karnataka's junior or sub-junior team, any other Indian state, or any Indian union territory in state, national, or international sporting tournaments.

 

National Institute of Engineering Admission 2025

NIE Mysore gives admission students on the basis of entrance and merit. For UG and PG level courses, the institute accepts entrance tests at the national and state levels, such as COMEDK-UGET, KCET, Karnataka PGCET, etc. The Karnataka PGCET is the entrance exam for NIE Mysore's MCA and M.Tech programs which is administered by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). For admission to BE programs, candidates must apply for entrance tests like KCET or COMEDK-UGET. For every course offered by this institution, applications must be submitted online.

 

Undergraduate (B.E.) Admission Process

  • Admission is offered through CET, COMEDK, and Management Quota.

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 (PUC) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

  • CET Route: Apply via KEA portal, appear for CET, participate in counselling, and report to NIE with documents.

  • COMEDK Route: Apply through COMEDK portal, take the test, attend counselling, and complete admission at NIE.

  • Management Quota: Apply directly through NIE’s portal or office, attend counselling, submit documents, and pay the admission fee.

  • Minimum eligibility: 60% aggregate in PCM and a valid CET/COMEDK/JEE score.

  • English proficiency is required.

 

Postgraduate (M.Tech / MCA) Admission Process

  • Admission through PGCET (KEA), GATE, or Management Quota.

  • For M.Tech: B.E./B.Tech with at least 50% marks and valid GATE/PGCET score.

  • For MCA: Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation level and minimum 50% marks.

  • Seats are allotted through KEA counselling or directly via Management quota.

  • Candidates must report to the college with all original documents for verification.
