Admission: My experience with SMVDU admissions was efficient. The application and campus verification were well planned, updates about counselling were timely, and staff made registration and orientation easy to complete.

Academic: Semester exams here are pretty balanced, not too easy and not too hard, which is good. You need to get at least 36% to pass them. For my course, civil engineering, our teachers are well-qualified and super knowledgeable. They are also very helpful whenever we need them. As for the curriculum, I don't know much about it personally, but it looks like all the branches follow the same subjects in the first year.

Placement: Right now, I am studying Civil Engineering, I'm in my first year and second semester. There are just 28 students in my batch, so it's a small group. We are not sure about our own placements yet. But, on average, students get placed with a salary of 5 LPA here. To be honest, this average package is less than what I was expecting. Also, fewer students get placed overall than what we thought would happen.

Campus: The campus here is pretty good. Our hostel is very nice, its rooms are super neat and seriously feel like hotel rooms. But on the other hand, the washrooms are bad, worse than even railway toilets. Good thing is, there's Wi-Fi all over the place. Plus, we have a library right inside the hostel. For sports, we have a huge ground on campus where you can play anything, and you can play badminton too.

Admission: Overall, the admission journey at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University was clear and efficient. Merit list updates were timely, counselling dates were communicated well, and staff guidance during verification made onboarding smooth.

Academic: Our teachers here are super helpful and good at their subjects. They even help us figure out our career goals and push us to try for competitive exams. Passing the semester exams is not that tough, you just need to work hard to get a good CGPA. For theory papers, you only need 36 marks out of 100 to pass.

Placement: Our college has pretty good placements. More than half of the students usually get placed in companies. The average salary package is around 5 lakhs, and the highest went up to 20 lakhs, which is quite impressive. For students to even sit for campus placements, they need to keep their CGPA above 7 and make sure they don't have any backlogs. Also, our teachers are very supportive; they help students chase their interests and goals.

Campus: In my experience, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University has good infrastructure. You see so much greenery all over the campus, which is lovely. All the basic facilities are there in every classroom too. Teachers also get projectors and smart boards, so they can show PowerPoints easily. This makes students understand everything much more effectively.

Admission: For me, admission at SMVDU was straightforward. The merit list came out quickly after registration, counselling was organised, and document verification staff helped clear all doubts smoothly.

Academic: For the teaching staff, they are mostly okay and quite relaxed with us. You cant expect every teacher to be super good, but overall, they are just fine. A big problem is our course content; it feels very old and wont make you ready for jobs in the real world. Passing exams is actually very easy here. You can easily get good marks even if you study just one night before the exam. To pass a subject, you only need 33 out of 100 marks, which is simple to achieve. Also, our own subject teachers are the ones who check our exam papers.

Placement: I am a B.Tech CSE student, set to pass out in 2025. Honestly, the placement situation here is not very good. Only about 30-40% of students actually get placed. What's even worse is that almost half of these people end up in marketing roles, and those jobs only pay around 20,000 rupees per month. For core IT companies, Infosys gave 3.5 LPA and Accenture offered 4 LPA. Range had a 5 LPA package. Cognizant offered 3.5 LPA, 5.5 LPA, and 6.7 LPA, but we are still waiting for those results to be out. The highest package was 7.8 LPA from Forbess Marshal, but only one student from CSE got that offer. Overall, placements are getting worse every year, and because of this, the college doesn't seem worth it. Also, the location of our campus isn't ideal for getting good placement opportunities.

Campus: Our campus hostels are pretty standard, just okay for staying. We do have Wi-Fi but you can't trust it much; it goes off a lot, and they even block sites like Quora on it. The classrooms are fine overall, but you should not expect the projectors to work most of the time. Funny thing is, for CSE students, we first had classes in a proper lecture theatre with AC and working projectors, but then they shifted us to normal classrooms. The library is good though, it has AC and you can find all the books you need for your subjects. On the flip side, our labs are quite outdated.

Admission: The overall admission experience at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University was well organised. From online form filling to verification and registration, everything was clearly communicated, with supportive staff during counselling.

Academic: Our civil teachers are good and know their stuff, all are well-qualified. But sometimes, they have trouble connecting with us students. The civil engineering course is good because it gives us all the theoretical knowledge and also tells us about the industry and what civil engineering will be like later. In one semester, we have two exams: a minor one for 20 marks and a major one for 40 marks. For the remaining 40 marks, it's up to the professor if they want to take a quiz or give us an assignment.

Placement: Currently I'm only in my 2nd semester, so I don't know a lot about placements directly. Placements actually kick off from the 7th semester here. But I've heard from some seniors that for the civil branch, the placements are just about average. The usual package for these is around 3-4 LPA. To even apply for placements, you need to keep a minimum CGPA of 6.5 and definitely no backlogs.

Campus: The civil branch here at our university shares a department with architecture. They've set up three classrooms just for civil students and we also have some labs. We also get a central library and a gym on campus. Inside the hostel, they do give us all the basic stuff we need, but the big issue is definitely the cleanliness – the hostels aren't very clean. And honestly, the food they give us isn't good at all. Despite these issues, my overall experience here is still good.

Overall, the courses here get students ready to handle any kind of challenges that come up when they start working.

Placement: Every year, many good companies like TCS, Wipro, and L&T visit our college for placements. The salary packages are also decent, with the highest going up to 12 LPA and the lowest at 4 LPA. Plus, if any student wants to do internships, our college arranges them too. But remember, you have to maintain your CGPA for all this.

Campus: My college campus has good facilities. We get high-speed internet and smart classes, which is very helpful. The classrooms are well-kept and even have CCTV cameras. There's also a big library for studying. Hostel facilities are good too, but the food in the hostel isnt that great, to be honest. Plus, we have a big sports ground.

Admission: Once my name appeared on the merit list, the admission process felt very systematic. Counselling schedules were shared properly, verification was handled efficiently, and final registration was smooth and quick.

Academic: The faculty in our college is quite good. They are all well-educated and friendly with us students, always helping clear our doubts. One issue is that the teaching method feels a bit old school, mainly because we don't have smart boards or modern infrastructure. About exams, the semester level papers are usually moderate to difficult. Even so, almost 90% of the students manage to pass.

Placement: I'm in the civil engineering branch here, and about 50% of students from our course get placed. The highest salary someone got was 30 LPA, and the average package is around 7 LPA. Big companies like L&T and Bosch come to our college to hire. Also, a good 70% of students manage to get internships which is great.

Campus: Our department's infrastructure is not good at all. We don't even have our own dedicated department, so we have to study in the architecture department, which is not ideal. But, the mess food is good here, that's a positive point. Also, the hostel rooms are very big and clean, which is nice. However, the hostel washrooms are extremely bad, honestly, even animals wouldn't use them.

Admission: After making it to the merit list, the admission process felt very structured. Registration and verification were organised well, staff were supportive, and orientation made the transition easy.

Academic: For me, getting the CSE branch was the main thing, and this college has decent placements. Honestly, you won't get super great exposure here. But if CSE is what you want and you don't have many other options, then this college can be a good pick. Academics are good, and the teachers are quite helpful too. We usually have one mid-semester exam and then the main major exams.

Placement: Talking about placements, they are just average here in our college. Most students get jobs, but the salary packages aren't usually very good. In 2024, the highest package was 19 LPA, and the average was around 4-5 LPA. Some of the top companies that came for hiring included TCS, BHEL, and Orange.

Campus: Our campus has quite a few facilities for students. There's one main library where you can go to study or just get books. Also, Wi-Fi is available all over the campus which is super helpful. For classes, we have four lecture theatres. The hostels here are pretty good too. You can find the canteen open till 8 PM, but honestly, don't expect very awesome food from the mess. For sports, we have courts for different games, including an indoor badminton court and a proper sports complex.

Admission: Starting my admission journey at SMVDU felt easy and well planned. From the online application to document verification, every step was clearly explained. The staff were supportive during counselling and registration, and the orientation session helped a lot in understanding what comes next.

Academic: What I like most is how good the teaching quality is here. Our teachers are super helpful and skilled in their subjects. Semester exams are set at a good level. Usually, you need 33% to pass, but there can be some exceptions for that. Plus, they offer extra technical subjects which helps us get more skills.

Placement: In our college, some students from the economics course got placed. This is partly because there arent many students in economics, so competition is less. Apart from economics, students from other courses also get internships and proper job placements. Companies like Range and ICICI come to recruit. Mostly, people get jobs as HR or research analysts. I dont know the exact salary package, but I can say it's quite good.

Campus: At our institute, all students get to use the big ground for sports and other things. Also, Wi-Fi is available for everyone, including students and teachers. Our library is a super important facility that helps students a lot with their studies. For food, there are many messes and canteens here, one for each house. Hostel students even have a gym they can use. And yeah, the university also holds sports games where all the different houses compete.

Admission: Joining the university felt seamless. Merit list updates were prompt, counselling instructions were clear, verification was quick, and staff were helpful. Orientation gave a good start to college life.

Academic: The courses here aren't good, and I feel the curriculum isn't kept up-to-date. Some teachers are very strict about attendance, but then others are not that bothered. What makes things unfair is the marking system. It feels biased because students from Jammu get higher marks in labs and internals. This means local Jammu students get favored, and us students from outside are not treated as well. Many teachers here also seem to show partiality. It seems like both the teachers and students only care about academics.

Placement: So, our college just brought in a new course, Mathematics and Computing. We don't have placement records for this branch yet because the first batch will only pass out in 2028. But overall, the college's placement situation is not good. Not many companies are interested in hiring students from here. For example, from the 2024 batch, only about 20 to 30 students got placed, and the salary packages were quite low, usually just 2-3 LPA.

Campus: What I like about our college is how beautiful the campus looks, especially at night. But, the hostel rooms are not maintained properly. For different year students, we have different hostels. The first-year hostel is good, which is a plus point. All the other hostels have courts for badminton and basketball, which makes our hostel life so nice and fun.

Admission: Applying to SMVDU was a good experience. The registration portal worked well, verification was quick on campus, staff were helpful, and orientation explained all joining details clearly.

Academic: I picked this department mainly because the semiconductor industry is doing well these days. Our teachers are also super qualified and smart, which is great. The course itself is quite good, and that's why I decided to go for it.

Placement: Placements are pretty decent at our college. Each year, at least 60 percent of students get placed. The highest salary package offered here is 20 LPA, and the lowest is 5 LPA. Orange is the top company that hires from us. Also, the semiconductor industry is quite active here, and students get good internships.

Campus: My college has a very nice vibe, feels very natural and peaceful. The environment also makes you want to study hard and be ambitious. For students, there are hostel and mess facilities available. We also have many sports facilities. You can also enjoy the mountains around.
