VIT Visakhapatnam (VIT-AP) was ranked number 1 among emerging private universities in India by Outlook in 2022. It has not yet received a separate NIRF rank, but its parent institute, VIT Vellore, is well-recognised. In 2023, VIT Vellore was ranked 8th in the university category, 11th in engineering and research, and 17th overall by the Ministry of Education under NIRF. It also received NAAC A++ accreditation with a CGPA of 3.66. In global rankings, QS placed its engineering programs in the top 142–240 range.
