The International Maritime Institute, established in 1991 is a private marine engineering college. The International Maritime Institute is UGC approved. The vision of the institute is to serve as an effective liaison of the maritime industry. It is the only maritime institute in North India offering a B.Tech program affiliated to IMU, Chennai. Presently, IMI Greater Noida is running Pre Sea courses like Diploma in Nautical Science, B.Tech in Marine Engineering & Graduate Mechanical Engineering. Some Post sea and value-added courses are also available.

All the pre-sea courses offered by IMI are duly approved by the Directorate General of Shipping. The BTech course is additionally recognised by the AICTE and affiliated to Indian Maritime University. Admission to all pre-sea courses is based on a candidate's performance in the respective entrance examination. Candidates must also meet the age criteria and medical requirements laid down by the Institute. IMI has a panel of qualified doctors and professional laboratories specialising in Merchant Navy regulations and requirements as per ILO Convention 147 Seafarer’s Medical Examination. All candidates need to pass a complete medical examination and mandatory tests before joining.
