The Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IIGJ), Jaipur, is a premier institution dedicated to nurturing design professionals specialising in Indian crafts. Established in 1995 by the Government of Rajasthan, IIGJ was conceptualized to revive and modernize the traditional Indian craft sector through a contemporary design education model. Initially set up as an autonomous institution, IIGJ underwent a significant transition in 2007 when its management was handed over to the Ambuja Educational Institute (AEI) under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This transformation gave the institute a new direction with enhanced autonomy and stronger industry ties. Since 2018, IIGJ has held provisional affiliation with Vishwakarma Skills University, Jaipur, offering full-time Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Master of Design (M.Des), and Postgraduate Diploma programs in Crafts and Design.

IIGJ Jaipur Courses and Fees

IIGJ Jaipur offers various full-time programs focused on the crafts and design sector. The institute provides a Bachelor of Design program, which spans four years, a Master of Design program of two years, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Design Foundation that runs for one year. These programs are available in various specializations such as Hard Material Design, Soft Material Design, Fired Material Design, Fashion Clothing Design, Jewellery Design, Crafts Communication, and Interior Design. The fee structure varies for each course, with the Bachelor’s program being the most comprehensive and thus carrying the highest fee, followed by the Master's and Diploma programs. The fees cover tuition, studio access, academic resources, and field-based learning experiences, making IIGJ a well-rounded choice for aspiring designers.

IIGJ Jaipur Application Process

The admission process at IIGJ Jaipur is designed to evaluate creativity and conceptual clarity. It begins with online registration on the official website, where candidates must fill out an application form and pay the fee. The selection is conducted in two main stages: an entrance test and a personal interview. The entrance exam, which includes questions on General Awareness, Creativity, Perception, and Material Handling, is a take-home test. Applicants must download the question paper and submit their answers within the specified deadline. Shortlisted candidates are invited to an interview round via video call via WhatsApp. Final admissions are offered based on combined performance in both stages, and selected candidates must confirm their seat by paying the admission fee. Classes for the new academic session begin in July 2025.

Step 1. Registration - Visit www.IIGJ.ac.in and register using a valid email ID and mobile number.

Step 2. Filling the Application Form - Enter personal, academic, and contact information. Select the preferred specialization and upload the required documents.

Step 3. Application Fee Payment - Pay the application fee online and keep the payment confirmation for future reference.

Step 3. Download Admit Card & Test Paper - From 16th January 2025, candidates can download their admit cards and entrance test paper from the official website.

Step 4. Submission of Responses - Complete and submit entrance test responses by 25th January 2025. The test includes: General Awareness, Creativity & Perception – 35% and Material, Colour & Conceptual Test – 45%

Step 5. Personal Interview - Shortlisted candidates will receive interview details via email. Interviews begin 3rd February 2025 via WhatsApp video call.

Step 6. Result Declaration - The final result will be announced on 21st February 2025 on the official portal.

Step 7. Fee Payment - Selected candidates must submit the admission fee from 28th February 2025 onwards.

Step 8. Session Commencement - The academic year begins in July 2025 at IIGJ Jaipur.
