Panjab University also includes intakes of students by considering merit in the relevant qualification and valid entrance exam scores like PU CET, CAT , JEE Main. In the year of 2024,2023, The University has declared the final selection list for all the categories based on marks in relevant qualification for all the branches. The Cut Off marks/ranks is very crucial for the students which decides the admission of the students in the University.
The University has made a criteria of minimum cut off in the range of 95000 to 850000 rank for various courses of UG program for all the categories like General, OBC,SC, ST, Pwd based on JEE Main score in the year of 2024.it has announced closing rank cutoff for admission in the university. The cutoff was decided by the University for the various courses of the Undergraduate program like BE.
Also, Panjab University has made a criteria of minimum cut off in the range of 53984 to 290006 rank for various courses of UG program for the categories like General based on JEE Main score in the year of 203.it has announced round 1, 2,3 and 5 cutoff for admission in the university. The cutoff was decided by the university for the various courses of the UG program like BE. It also released the cut off for MBA which is in the range 85 percentile for general category on the basis of CAT 2023 score.

The University has released the cutoff for BE based on JEE Main score for the 2 academic years in its official portal.The cutoff for 2024 is higher than 2023 as the competition for the admission in the university is increasing yearly.

The Main key factors affecting cut off includes various stages such as:
- Number of Applicants: the more the number of peoples apply for the entrance exam the more will be the cut off
- Exam difficulty : the difficulty of exam decides the merit candidates in the university
- Seat availability: based on seats available in the university the cut off will be decided according to the seat availability.
- Reservation policy: the cutoff includes the reservation policies for the admission of university. The cut off for reservation candidates will be less than unreserved candidates.

Important Dates:
Panjab University releases the important dates related to admission. The university's admission will be from July to august. So, the candidates should adhere to the important days of the university and stay updated to the notification released by the university.
- The admission window will be open in the first week of august.
- The admission window will close at the last week of the august.
- PU entrance exam application starts in June and will be held in the month of july.
- PU CET will be held between 27 march to 29 april every year.
