The RCC Institute of Information Technology also known as RCCIIT was founded in 1999 by the then Regional Computer Centre in Calcutta, which was part of JU, through a collaborative effort involving NIC, the Ministry of Communication & IT, Government of India, and the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal. In 2003, the responsibility for managing RCCIIT shifted to the state government from the Government of India. RCCIIT is approved by AICTE, New Delhi, and is affiliated with MAKAUT, West Bengal. The RCC Institute of Information Technology [RCCIIT] in Kolkata offers undergraduate B.Tech courses in various disciplines, as well as postgraduate degrees in M.Tech and MCA. Admissions for B.Tech and M.Tech programs are based on entrance examinations, while MCA admissions are determined by merit. The semester one fee for courses at RCCIIT ranges from Rs 59,100 to Rs 99,775. The institution also organizes annual placement drives, with the highest salary package offered being INR 14 LPA.

RCC Institute of Information Technology offers admission to different courses like B.Tech, B.Tech Lateral, M.Tech, and MCA at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. RCIIT also offers different specializations of B.Tech, i.e., Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Information Technology (IT), Electrical Engineering (EE), and others. The minimum educational qualification is a diploma in engineering/technology with 60% marks or equivalent from an AICTE-approved polytechnic institute. In the same manner, RCIIT also offers multiple M.Tech specializations like computer science and engineering (CSE), VLSI and microelectronics, and computer science & engineering (artificial intelligence). Students fulfilling all the above-specified eligibility criteria can apply for graduation and post-graduate classes online from RCCIIT's official website. The step-by-step application procedure is as follows:

• Go to the RCCIIT official website
• Then register an account, which will create the candidate as a user on the website.
• The candidate will receive a verification e-mail at the given email address.
• After confirmation, users would have to log in to the RCCIIT website by using their user ID and password.
• Find and click the "Enquiry" link.
• Provide all the required information and submit it.
• They would then have to attend the online centralized counselling held by the administrators of the institution based on their rank in the entrance exam as per the discipline.
• Students selected via online counselling are required to report to the specified place with all academic documents and identification proof.
• After all the documents have been verified by the relevant authority, they will be allocated to the desired course in the institution.

RCCIIT Placements

RCC Institute of Information Technology has a well-structured placement cell. The cell also organizes very extensive training programs for the students, such as extensive grooming, communications, and soft skill programs throughout the year, to make students better and sharpen their confidence and performance during interviews. RCCIIT organizes placements annually. In 2023, 350 students were placed, and the highest salary package offered was Rs 14 LPA. In 2022, 546 students were placed, and the highest salary package offered was Rs 13 LPA. • Library - The library maintains a collection of 33,100+ volumes, 5,000 books, 4,720 titles, online journals, and 500+ CD/DVD collections. The Library also has the "Book Bank" facility, through which students can avail themselves of two to four (depending on the year and semester) books for the entire semester along with three books through the normal Library facility.
• Special Classes - RCCIT also provides various special classes such as coding classes, soft skill classes, gate coaching classes, remedial and tutorial classes, and innovative teacher-led classes. The classes offer students a chance to enhance their performance and gain skill sets.
• Events - The RCCIIT Student Welfare Committee conducts a games and sports festival named Game of Thrones (GOT) annually, consisting of indoor and outdoor games competitions such as badminton, carom, chess, football, cricket, tug-of-war, table tennis, and volleyball. Additionally, TECHTRIX (an annual Technical Fest organized over 2 days by the Student Welfare Committee) and departmental technical events such as Innovision or Alphatec test the technical skills, Mathemagic, Spell-Bee, Sudoku, Quiz competitions, brains and natural abilities of the students through Codathon (Coding & debugging)/gaming model making, robotics, etc.
• Medical Facility: Doctors and medical officers are also employed by the institute. An ambulance facility is also available. There is a sick room present on campus to administer first aid.
• Laboratories: There are well-equipped laboratories in the institute to provide facilities to all the students from different departments. The labs contain a high-speed optic internet facility, projector, fire safety facility, and necessary equipment to carry out lab work, projects, and research work. There is a computer laboratory with 30 desktop PCs as well.
