Specific eligibility criteria for all the courses offered by UWSL are detailed below.
Undergraduate courses
- To be eligible for the BBA LLB and BA LLB Hons. programs, candidates must have passed Class 12th from any recognized educational board with a minimum of 45% marks (42% for OBC, 40% for SC/ST).
- Alternatively a 3 years’ Diploma from a COBSE recognized board with a minimum 55% aggregate score is also considered in place of class 12th.
- Admission is based on scores in CLAT, KUAT, or CUET, followed by a Personal Interview. The university also conducts its own entrance exam KUAT and KU LAT which can be considered as an alternative for the national level entrance exams.
- Specialization Choice: Criminal Law, Business Law, International Law, Intellectual Property Law, General Hons.
Postgraduate and Phd courses
- For the LLM course, candidates need a 3 or 5 Years’ LLB Degree from any recognized university with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).
- Selection is based on CLAT/LSAT/KU-LAT scores (70% weightage) and a Personal Interview (30% weightage).
- A Statement of Purpose and Curriculum Vitae are required prior to the interview.
- Specialization Choice: Criminal Law, Intellectual Property Law, Constitutional Law, Human Rights Law.
- For Ph.D. in Law, candidates must have passed a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 75% aggregate marks and a master's degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks, in Law or related field.
- 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently Abled/EWS candidates.
- M. Phil. graduates with at least 55% marks or equivalent grading are also eligible.
- Admission involves a university entrance exam (KU-PET), followed by a personal interview or viva voce.

For admission to UWSL, candidates should ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria for their chosen program and appear for the necessary entrance exams. Admissions are currently open and KU PET is scheduled to take place on June 28, 2025.

- Fill out the application form with all details and upload scanned copies of required documents like class 10, class 12, graduation mark sheets, transfer certificate, Aadhaar card, passport-size photograph, signature, etc.
- Pay the non refundable application fee of ₹1000 for all categories.
- After applying, appear for one of the accepted entrance examinations: for LLB- CLAT, KUAT, CUET. For LL.M., CLAT, LSAT, or KU-LAT are accepted.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview. Admission is finally granted after successful document verification and the required payment of course fees.
