IPMAT Exam Pattern 2026

IPMAT 2026 exam is an online computer-based test (CBT). It will have MCQs and short-answer (SA) type questions. It will be conducted for a total of 90 minutes, and there will be 30 minutes per section. The candidates will receive +4 marks for a correct response and -1 mark for an incorrect response. The exam pattern for IPMAT 2025 includes the following details:

The IPMAT question paper is divided into three sections with different weightage and time allocation. Below is the section-wise distribution of questions and time allocation:

 

IPMAT Marking Scheme 2026

IPMAT Question Paper 2026 will consist of a total of 90 questions. There will be 15 questions in the QA (SA) section, 45 questions in the VA (MCQs) section, and 30 questions in the QA (MCQs) section. The following marking scheme is followed in the IPMAT 2026 exam. They are as follows:

  • Each correct answer earns +4 marks.
  • Each incorrect answer results in a -1 mark deduction.
  • No marks are given or deducted for unattempted questions.
  • Quantitative Ability (SA) section will have no negative marking.

IPMAT Composite Score Calculation 2026

The composite score for IPMAT 2026 is calculated using a formula that normalises section-wise performance. The final score is the sum of all three section scores. Below are the formulas for score computation:

 

Quantitative Ability (MCQ) Score Calculation:

  • 25 × (Candidate's Score - Minimum Score) / (Maximum Score - Minimum Score)

 

Quantitative Ability (SA) Score Calculation:

  • 25 × (Candidate's Score - Minimum Score) / (Maximum Score - Minimum Score)

 

Verbal Ability Score Calculation:

  • 50 × (Candidate's Score - Minimum Score) / (Maximum Score - Minimum Score)

 

IPMAT Computation of Composite Scores 2026

Candidates will be shortlisted for the Personal Interview (PI) based on their composite scores. The final admission offers will be made based on the composite score while adhering to the reservation norms of the Government of India.
