RRB ALP Exam Pattern 2026 evaluates candidates across multiple competencies for recruitment as an Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) in Indian Railways. ALP assists the Loco Pilots in monitoring the trains and ensuring locomotive performance. The selection process is based on a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for two stages and a CBAT exam. These are followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination, ensuring candidates are suitable for technical operations for the Railways. As per the official update, the CBT Stage 1 exam is scheduled between February 16 and February 18, 2026.

The exam is conducted in online mode with an objective-type format, testing the analytical and subject-specific knowledge of the candidates. Negative marking of ⅓ mark deduction is applicable across all the stages of the written exam except for the CBAT stage. Candidates are awarded 1 mark for each correct response made in the exam. The final merit list preparation is based on marks scored in the CBT Stage 2 Part A exam and the CBAT performance. CBT Stage 1 and CBT Stage 2 Part B Exams are qualifying in nature.
