New Delhi, 23rd September 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has announced the launch of its second batch of the Certificate Programme in Applied Data Science & Artificial Intelligence: From Fundamentals to Deployment enabling learners to write production-grade Python, engineer and analyse data, build and evaluate ML and deep-learning models and deploy responsible AI solutions with MLOps, culminating in an industry-facing capstone.
This six-month programme, offered under IIT Delhi’s Continuing Education Programme (CEP), offers a comprehensive grounding in Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) principles and applications. These have now become central to growth across organisations, with sectors such as healthcare, finance, retail, manufacturing, education, transportation and entertainment reaping substantial benefits from integrating data-driven decision-making into their processes and services.
According to McKinsey’s The Data-Driven Enterprise of 2025 report, by 2030, data will be ubiquitous across processes and decision points, requiring leaders to adopt a ‘data and AI first’ approach. Similarly, the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025 highlights that 86% of employers expect AI and information-processing technologies to transform their businesses by 2030, while 63% identify skills gaps as a critical barrier to adoption. Around 39% of current skill sets are projected to become obsolete within five years, underscoring the urgency for professionals to upskill and remain competitive.
To overcome this transformational challenge, the Certificate Programme in Applied Data Science & Artificial Intelligence provides crucial skills to thrive through transition and create immediate workplace value. The curriculum moves from Python programming, data manipulation and exploratory analysis through regression, classification, clustering and dimensionality reduction, before advancing to deep learning, reinforcement learning and natural language processing. Learners gain hands-on experience with model deployment on Docker and the cloud, adopt sound MLOps practices and apply responsible AI principles via industry-grounded projects and a culminating capstone.
Speaking at the announcement of the programme, Prof. Ankur Gupta, Centre for Applied Research in Electronics, Indian institute of Technology Delhi said, “At IIT Delhi, we’ve built this programme around doing, not just knowing. Learners practise Python, modern machine learning and deep learning, then take models into production with MLOps and responsible AI. The capstone, industry cases and mentoring ensure participants finish with deployable solutions—and the confidence to apply data science meaningfully at work across sectors, with lasting impact on business outcomes.”
The programme is highly recommended for aspiring data scientists and AI enthusiasts, technology and analytics professionals seeking to upskill or pivot, engineers and technologists applying AI in industry settings, and students and researchers aiming to deepen expertise in applied AI and data science for academic or research objectives.
Delivered in a Direct-to-Device (D2D) format through live and interactive online classes, the programme comprises 72 hours of live lectures, a 40-hour capstone, practical tutorials and substantial asynchronous learning, with an optional short campus immersion at IIT Delhi. On successful completion, participants will receive e-Certificates issued by CEP, IIT Delhi. The learner must fulfil all the criteria to be eligible for the e-certificate from CEP, IIT Delhi.
