Pillai University conducted its Convocation 2026 and Degree Distribution Ceremony on February 28, 2026, at its New Panvel campus. Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, attended the ceremony as Guest of Honour and addressed the graduating students.
The ceremony marked one of the final graduation events for students completing their programs under the affiliation of the University of Mumbai. The event also symbolised an important institutional transition as the institution prepares to begin a new chapter as Pillai University.
Degrees were conferred upon students from engineering, management, commerce, media, and allied disciplines, formally concluding the academic cycle for the 2025 graduating batch.

While addressing the gathering, Shri Nitin Gadkari spoke about India’s fast-paced infrastructure growth and the country’s expanding development network. He described Panvel as a strategically located region emerging as a major hub for national infrastructure projects.
He emphasised that higher education institutions have a significant role in nation-building by preparing skilled, responsible, and innovation-driven graduates. Encouraging students to think beyond conventional career paths, he highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship, technological adoption, and practical solutions that address real societal challenges.
His address stressed values such as integrity, resilience, and continuous learning as foundations for long-term professional success. He underlined that education is not limited to earning a degree but involves contributing meaningfully to India’s growth and future.
Ceremony Proceedings
During the ceremony, Shri Nitin Gadkari awarded degree certificates to meritorious students. The occasion brought together university leadership, faculty members, graduating students, and invited dignitaries.
Among those present were senior representatives of the institution, including Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai, CEO of Mahatma Education Society, along with other academic and civic leaders. On the occasion, Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai presented his book titled “Education” to Shri Nitin Gadkari, sharing perspectives on higher education, leadership, and the evolving role of education in shaping India’s future.
