College of Engineering Munnar was set up by the Government of Kerala in the year 2000. It started under the Centre for Continuing Education Kerala (CCEK), and from 2026 the college is run by the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD). It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University since 2015. Before that, it was affiliated to the Cochin University of Science and Technology.
