The Gagan College of Management and Technology (GCMT) was established in 2002, with a vision to provide quality education and promote talent in students to enhance their growth across all domains of human endeavour. It is affiliated to Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University (RMPSSU). It started with the three-year undergraduate degree courses in B.B.A. (Bachelor of Business Administration) and B.C.A. (Bachelor of Computer Applications), with an intake of 60 students per course. By recommending affiliation in 2004, the institution extended its foothold to teacher education, beginning with B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) program with an intake of 100 students. In 2006, the college was permanently affiliated with B.B.A., B.C.A. and B.Ed. Course by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University. During this time, not only did the institution secure permanent affiliation, but the student strength had rapidly increased to around 100 students in each B.C.A batch and over 100 students in any B.B.A. batch.

In 2004, the college continued its expansion into the field of teacher education with the start of a new B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) program comprising a total of 100 students. This course was permanently affiliated with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra, in 2006. With a growing demand for the role of computers and IT skills within the marketplace, the college established the P.G.D.C.A. (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications) course in 2010, which was added with an intake of 40 seats to provide graduates with essential computer literacy. Further academic expansion continued with the introduction of the M.Sc. (Computer Science) program in 2015 with an intake of 30 seats, followed by the launch of the M.Com program in 2016 with 60 seats.
