IIM Amritsar Cutoff 2025 will play a major role in shortlisting candidates for admission to its MBA programs for the 2025–27 batch. As one of the rapidly growing third-generation IIMs, IIM Amritsar is gaining popularity among MBA aspirants due to its quality education, placement performance, and academic diversity.

For the 2025 admission cycle, IIM Amritsar will participate in the Common Admission Process (CAP) along with other new IIMs. The shortlisting for the WAT-PI round under CAP will be based on CAT 2025 scores, including sectional and overall percentile cutoffs. The selection process is based on CAT 2025 scores, Personal Interview (PI), academic history, work experience, and diversity factors. The entire process reflects the institute’s commitment to meritocracy and professional excellence.

As per past trends, General category candidates must secure a minimum of the 90th percentile overall, with at least an 80th percentile in QA and 75th percentile in each of DILR and VARC to be eligible for the CAP shortlist. However, the actual admission cutoff is expected to be higher, depending on the candidate profiles and level of competition.

IIM Amritsar Selection Criteria 2025

IIM Amritsar employs a two-stage selection process, comprising a Pre-PI stage and a Post-PI stage, with final selection based on a composite score. The ratio of selection is 60:40 between the pre- and post-stages. In the Pre-PI stage, candidates are assessed on multiple parameters: CAT 2024 score (50%), Class 10 marks (10%), Class 12 marks (10%), Graduation marks (5%), Gender diversity (10%), and Work experience (15%). In the Post-PI stage, the weightage is distributed as follows: Personal Interview (70%), Work Experience (10%), Gender Diversity (10%), and Academic Diversity (10%). This is calculated as the final score = 0.6 Pre-PI score + 0.4 post-PI score. This is a multi-layered assessment that weighs both academic and personal qualifications correctly in the decision-making process.

IIM Amritsar Past Academic Performance (PAP) Rating

In the MBA 2025-27 admissions, the institute is considering Past Academic Performance (PAP) at the graduate level; it will award scores to all candidates according to the range of percentages obtained by them. This marking is used in the shortlisting process of players in the first shortlist. The institute employs a scale that ranges from 0 to 5 points. Candidates securing 55% or below in graduation receive 0 points, while those with scores between 55.01% and 65% receive 1 point. As the percentage range increases, so do the assigned points, with 2 points awarded for 65.01%–70%, 3 points for 70.01%–80%, and 4 points for 80.01%–90%. The maximum score of 5 points is awarded to candidates who have achieved a grade of more than 90.01% in their graduation. This is one of the key factors in determining the composite score during the pre-PI shortlist.
