The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Hajipur, established in 2007 in Vaishali District, Bihar, is the first institute of its kind in the state dedicated to advanced pharmaceutical education and research. Created under the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Act 1998 and functioning as an autonomous institution of national importance under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Government of India, it serves as a hub for higher education, research, and innovation in pharmaceutical sciences. Until the 2022-23 academic year, the institute operated with seven departments – Biotechnology, Pharmacy Practice, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutics, Regulatory Toxicology, and Biopharmaceuticals. It offers M.Pharm in Pharmacy Practice, M.S. (Pharm) in Biotechnology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutics, and Regulatory Toxicology, along with Ph.D. programmes in all streams except Regulatory Toxicology. From the 2023-24 session, a dedicated Biopharmaceuticals department has been introduced, offering both M.S.
