The National Institute of Siddha (NIS), located in Tambaram Sanatorium, Chennai, is a premier government institute dedicated to Siddha medicine. Established in 2004, NIS is affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and operates under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. The institute is NABH accredited and recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM). With an annual student intake of ~180–200 across UG, PG, and PhD programs, NIS offers specialized courses such as BSMS (Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery), MD (Siddha), and PhD in Siddha. National Institute of Siddha Admission Deadlines

National Institute of Siddha UG Admission

The program has an annual intake of 60 seats, and candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and be at least 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year. The total course fee is approximately INR 60,000–75,000 for the full duration, with an application fee of INR 1,000–1,200.

 

National Institute of Siddha PG Admission

NIS Chennai offers the MD (Siddha) program in eight specialties, including Gunapadam, Kuzhandhai Maruthuvam, and Noi Naadal. Admissions require a valid AIAPGET score, with cutoffs for general category typically in the 55–65 percentile range. The annual intake is 60–75 seats across all specialties. Applicants must hold a BSMS degree from a recognized university and meet minimum qualifying marks. The total fee for the MD program is around INR 90,000–1,10,000 for three years, and the application fee is INR 1,500.

 

National Institute of Siddha PhD Admission

The PhD program at NIS Chennai is offered in various Siddha disciplines, with admissions based on a written entrance test conducted by the institute, followed by an interview. Applications are typically invited in June–July each year. Eligibility requires a MD (Siddha) or equivalent postgraduate degree in Siddha medicine. The number of seats varies annually and is subject to availability of guides and research facilities. The total fee for the PhD program is approximately INR 1,20,000–1,50,000, with an application fee of INR 2,000.
