NIT Hamirpur Reviews & Ratings 2026 – Authentic Student Feedback

Admission: The teachers here are super helpful. Almost all of them have Ph.D.s. They explain things really well and make sure we understand everything. I'm in electronics and communication engineering, and in the first year, we all have the same syllabus. So, I'm not too familiar with our curriculum yet since the real deal starts in the second year.

Placement: The placements are pretty good at this college. In 2024, around 85% of students found jobs. The average salary is 9.85 LPA, with the highest being 1.85 crore per year for computer science students. Even electronics and communication engineering students have good placement opportunities. Overall, the placements here are great.

Campus: The hostel and campus have everything you need, like Wi-Fi and sports facilities. The institute's infrastructure is top-notch. You can play volleyball, football, cricket, table tennis, and badminton in the hostel. The food in the mess is really good. Plus, the gym facilities are great too.

Admission: The teachers knew their stuff, though some weren't as great. They mainly just wanted to get through the syllabus. The courses were practical and helpful for real-world jobs. Like, we learned about machine learning, data structures and algorithms, and distributed systems. Exams were okay to pass, but getting full marks was tough. You needed at least a 4 out of 10 to pass.

Placement: I'm in the 2024 batch and lots of students in Computer Science and Engineering got campus placements. The highest package was 40 LPA, the lowest around 5 LPA, and the average was 8 to 12 LPA. Capgemini, BNY Melon, Cisco, and others were top recruiters. Almost everyone got internships, but they were mostly unpaid or had strict criteria to get paid. Most roles offered were Software Engineer or Data Analyst.

Campus: The libraries here have lots of books to choose from. The classrooms are big and nice. The labs have computers for us to use. Some hostels don't have enough water in the summer. Bathrooms could be cleaner. The food in the canteen is just okay. And we've got fun stuff like badminton and table tennis in the hostels.

Admission: The college has some academic pressure, but the teachers are great. They know a lot and make studying easy. Plus, there's a library with tons of books and a study room on campus where you can study without any distractions. It's a good place to focus on your work.

Placement: The placements here are pretty good, around 10 to 11 LPA on average for all branches. CSE has the highest placements, followed by ECE, electrical, mechanical, and chemical. Your placement really comes down to how much you work on yourself while you're here.

Campus: The college campus is pretty nice overall. At the start of the first year, there are some rules to follow, but it's not a big deal. The food in the mess is decent, nothing to complain about. The best part is the amazing campus infrastructure. It's surrounded by mountains and trees, which makes it a really cool place to study. I'd say it's worth considering for admission.

Admission: I found that some teachers at the college were really nice, but others were rude and not so great. The nice ones were knowledgeable and had good behavior. But the rude ones acted like they were better than us and always pointed out our mistakes.

Placement: Last year, all students in my batch got placed. The highest salary for chemical engineering was 52 lakh. HUL (Hindustan Unilever) recruited the most students. On average, we got around 10 lakh. I'm really happy with how things turned out for us.

Campus: I like most of the teachers here. They know their stuff and are helpful. But there are a few who are not so nice. It's hard to understand them sometimes because of their accents. Some teachers act like they're better than us, especially with new students.

Admission: The teachers were really great  they were helpful and knew their stuff. The way they taught was top-notch. This course is perfect if you're into Physics and dream of being a researcher. It's a bit challenging, but not too overwhelming.

Placement: The job placements for Engineering Physics at NIT Hamirpur were pretty good. More than half of the students got placed, and a lot of them chose to continue studying. Different companies visit the college like those in nanotechnology and electrical fields. If you like research, that's an option too.

Campus: The facilities for my course were top-notch. The classrooms had good ventilation, Wi-Fi, electricity, and a nice library. The hostel was great, but first-year students had to stay in after 8:15 pm. The food in the mess was okay, and the medical services were really good there's even an ambulance on campus. We have lots of sports activities, including inter-college events.

Admission: The teachers are really helpful and know their stuff. They like to focus on hands-on learning. What we learn in class, we also get to try out in labs. There are about 2 teachers for every 65 students. One time, we got to visit Tehri Dam for a class trip to see how it's built. It was super interesting and I think everyone should check it out.

Placement: The placements for our Electronics and Communication batch in 2024-25 are really good. We've got big companies like Airtel and Zomato coming to hire students this year. About 500 of us have already been placed, and some lucky ones even got job offers from two or three companies. Amazon offered the highest package at 36 LPA, while Tata offered the lowest. On average, we're looking at 11.2 LPA, which is a nice jump from 8 LPA last year.

Campus: The Wi-Fi here is decent, with speeds around 18-20 Mbps. The labs are cool, but the lab classes aren't the best. They're building a new library with like 1 lakh books, which is awesome for bookworms. The medical stuff is alright. Food quality could use some improvement. Hostels are nice overall. The old ones are pretty bad, but the new ones are way better.

Admission: The teachers at this national technology institute are really good. They all have PhDs, so they know their stuff. The teaching is top-notch. The exams at the end of the semester can be a bit tough, but most people pass with a 40% score. Each semester, we have to do two internal assessments.

Placement: The college is great for placements. Big companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Infosys, and others come for hiring. The highest salary is around 50 Lacs per year, while the lowest is about 4 Lacs per year.

Campus: The hostel costs around one Lakh four thousand per year. The rooms are super clean, and you'll share with 2 or 3 others. You can choose who you share with. The food in the mess is okay, nothing special. We have sports to join in, which is cool. The canteen is nice and the prices are fair.

Admission: The college had 4 exams each semester  2 quizzes, a midsem, and an end sem. You needed 75% attendance. The faculty-to-student ratio wasn't great, but they hired more teachers last year. The classes were big, so it was hard to learn. Some teachers cared a lot about attendance, while others didn't mind. The faculty didn't seem to care much about us. Exams were mostly easy to medium-hard if you studied a bit. Some course subjects were useful.

Placement: Internships start in the 5th semester and placements in the 7th. Big companies like Tata Power, Reliance, Jio, and more visit for placements. The highest package in my branch was 15 Lacs, and the average was 8 Lacs. In 2024, around 70% of students got placed. I'm thinking of doing my master's after graduation. There are fewer internship opportunities compared to placements. Companies like Jio and Honda offered internships, but only a few got PPOs.

Campus: The hostels were overcrowded with too many students. Rooms had beds, chairs, tables, and closets. We shared rooms with 3-4 people for the first three years. Bathrooms were okay but cleaned often. The food in the mess was just average. My hostel didn't have Wi-Fi, but a couple did, though it wasn't great. The library was huge with lots of books. Medical help was good, and medicines were free. There were about 4-5 canteens around the college.

Admission: The teachers here are super helpful and really know their stuff. Sometimes they try to cover too much too quickly, which can make things feel rushed and take away from the fun of the subject. Some classes focus more on hands-on learning, while others are all about theory. The exams at the end of the semester can be tough, depending on how hard the teachers make them. Overall, it's a good mix of practical and theoretical learning.

Placement: The job placements were decent this time, with most students getting around 7.84 LPA on average. The highest package was 18 LPA for electrical engineering. Out of nearly 1000 students, about 885 got placed. Big companies like Samsung, Oracle, IBM, Bloomberg, Infosys, Wipro, and more came for recruitment. They offered roles like SDE, GET, and business analyst.

Campus: The campus at my NIT is super pretty with lots of greenery. The buildings are in good shape and the hostels are nice, with Wi-Fi everywhere. The labs and halls have AC, which is great. The food in the mess is okay, but it might not be the best for South Indians.

Admission: The professors here are super smart and have written lots of research papers. The classes are okay, but some stuff might not feel important. Exams can be easy or hard depending on the subject.

Placement: The placements here are alright  not super impressive, but not terrible either. Last year, my department had placements that were a bit below average. But in the third-to-last year, they got better. The salary packages ranged from 5 LPA to around 10-12 LPA. Some of the top companies that recruited from here were JSW and a couple more.

Campus: The labs and classrooms are really good here. The library has books on every topic, which is awesome. But the hostel quality is just okay. Some rooms are nice, but some are not that great. The food in the mess is okay too.
