About North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy

North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy was approved by the Union Cabinet in March 2008 and formally inaugurated in 2016. The institute was established under the Ministry of AYUSH and is affiliated with North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) to promote Ayurveda and Homoeopathy education and healthcare in Northeast India and Sikkim. The campus is located adjacent to NEIGRIHMS in Mawdiangdiang, Shillong. The academic college offers BAMS and BHMS programs (5.5 years including 1-year internship), with the current annual intake increased to 63 seats per discipline. It has now extended to post-graduate level, with a 3-year full-time MD in Homoeopathic Philosophy. NEIAH Shillong offers two undergraduate full-time programs, BAMS and BHMS, which are completed in 5.5 years, including a compulsory one-year internship. Applicants should complete 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, and also qualify for NEET-UG. Admissions are conducted via AYUSH centralised counselling (AACCC) with a quota of 63 per year. It has now extended to post-graduate level, with an MD in Homoeopathic Philosophy, a 3-year full-time degree, entry by examination, and the AIAPGET examination.

The NEIAH Shillong admission is a merit-based structured process, which is founded on NEET-UG performance, centralised AYUSH counselling, and offline checking of documents.

 

Entrance Exam

  • NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate) is mandatory for entry into both BAMS and BHMS programs. All candidates must have a valid NEET-UG score.

 

Application Process

  • Visit the NEIAH’s official website at http://neiah.nic.in and download the latest prospectus and application form.
  • Complete the offline application form with accurate personal and academic details.
  • Attach required documents, including NEET admit card and scorecard, 10th/12th mark sheets, domicile/PRC certificate, and category certificate (if applicable).
  • Pay the application fee via Demand Draft: INR 1,000 for General/OBC; INR 500 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
  • Submit the completed application along with required enclosures by post or in person to the Director, NEIAH, Shillong.

 

Seat Distribution & Counselling

  • NEIAH reserves 63 seats each for BAMS and BHMS.
  • Seats are divided between the State Quota (85%) reserved for Northeast candidates and the All-India Quota (AIQ) (15%) for candidates across India.
  • Counselling for AIQ seats is overseen by the AYUSH Admissions Central Counselling Committee (AACCC).

 

Merit List & Seat Allotment

  • A combined state- and category-wise merit list is generated based on NEET-UG scores.
  • In case of tied NEET scores, inter-se merit is determined by All-India Rank.
  • Candidates selected through the merit list are called for offline counselling, document verification, and medical fitness assessment.

 

Final Admission & Reporting

  • Upon seat allotment, candidates must report to NEIAH, complete admission formalities by paying the requisite fees, and receive their provisional admission letter.
  • Failure to attend counselling or produce original documents will result in forfeiture of the seat.
