The hostels at IIT Madras provide a range of room options suitable for various student needs, including accommodations for single students as well as married ones. The fee structure includes charges for essentials such as RO water and waste disposal, ensuring hygienic living conditions. The maintenance and establishment fees cover the upkeep of the hostel infrastructure along with support for extra-curricular activities.

 

Residents benefit from security arrangements and wellness programs funded through the Student Wellness Fee. Additionally, all students are covered under a Student Medical Insurance plan renewed annually to assist with healthcare needs. New admissions are required to pay a refundable deposit of Rs. 5000, which is not applicable to existing batches.

 

IITM - Mess and Extra Services

Mess facilities at IITM are optional and charged separately, with advance payments required. Students can choose from the standard mess plan priced at Rs. 148 per day for 117 days, or opt for specialized vegetarian or non-vegetarian meal plans available for 30-day periods at Rs. 142 and Rs. 148 per day respectively. Undergraduate students have the opportunity to participate in cultural and technical events like Saarang, Shastra, and E-Summit for an additional fee of Rs. 7500.
