Manipur University is one of the largest and oldest institutes in Manipur, the Indian state, in its capital city Imphal. It was in the form of an open teaching university set up on June 5, 1980, as a result of the Manipur University Act. As of 2005, it was declared a Central University, placing it directly under the control of the Indian Union Government. Under the university lie 116 colleges, which include two medical colleges. The Manipur Institute of Technology is a technical engineering college that uses special techniques.
The Manipur University campus is located in the historically rich area called Canchipur. It was once the location of the ancient palace known as The Langthabal Konung, which was constructed by Maharaja Gambhir Singh, who ruled Manipur. The university premises cover 287.53 acres of land; it is very spacious and green.
Manipur University follows the principles of offering courses in a very large number of subjects. There are 44 different departments and 8 centers of study there, and around 6,000 students are learning there. The student can apply for undergraduate and postgraduate and PhD programs in many subjects such as science, humanities, and more, etc. So, admissions are also based on entrance exams like MUET and CUET.

Manipur University currently offers more than 50 undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD degree specializations. It has already established nine schools of studies and has 46 departments with four different centres of studies for students. The school of studies includes the School of Humanities, Education, Environmental Sciences, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Medical Sciences, and many more.

Manipur University Admission process -
Manipur University offers many undergraduate and postgraduate courses to the students. For admission in the university, candidates must appear in the entrance examination MUET or CUET. Half of the seats are booked on the basis of the scores in the MUET, and half on CUET scores. The university will declare its merit lists on its official website after the entrance exam and admission registration. Shortlisted candidates' names and scores are to be put up on the list. To undergo document verification, such shortlisted candidates must visit the respective campus. Once their documents get verified and approved, they can pay the course fee online to reserve a seat.
