The National Institute of Engineering also known as NIE founded in 1964, which is among Karnataka's oldest educational institutions. The institute is also the first engineering college in Mysore and the second in Karnataka. AICTE has authorised NIE Mysore, and NAAC has recognised it. It has also been granted autonomy by Visvesvaraya Technological University. The NIRF Ranking 2023 for B.Tech places the institute in the bandwidth range of 151-200. India Today's NIE Mysore B.Tech Ranking holds it at 43rd place. The institute now provides more than 20 courses, which include B.Tech, M.Tech, and PhD in fields like engineering and information technology. National and state-level engineering entrance exams, such as COMEDK-UGET, KCET, Karnataka PGCET, etc., are used to determine admission to NIE for B.Tech and M.Tech programs.
