BA Fine Arts Admission Process 2025, Eligibility, and Entrance Tests

• Updated on  Aug 06, 2025, by Kirti Mehendiratta

The Bachelor of Fine Arts is a 3- to 4-year undergraduate program designed for students who have completed their 10+2 education from a recognized board in any stream. A candidate has to have at least 50% marks in order to qualify, usually with prerequisites, though the percentages are lax in the case of reserved categories. Admissions can also be provisional to a student who is waiting for his or her final results. BFA entrance exams include the national, state, and university levels; CUET UG / MAH AAC CET and/or university entrance exams such as BHU and Jamia Millia Islamia. The varying charges in application fees and lock-up dates differ according to the exam and category.

Admission procedures often consist of an online application, the submission of documentation and payment of fees, and admission tests that measure drawing ability on a practical level, artistic talent, and theory. Take the case of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), candidates have to write the CUET UG exam, a practical test, and undergo counseling, after which they are finally selected. The other step is to pay the admission fee by the selected students to confirm their seats. BFA admission in general combines talent-based evaluations with academic qualifications in choosing applicants who will fit to have professional art education.

  • The General category candidates need to obtain a minimum of 50% marks, but the OBC/SBC candidates should get a minimum of 45%, and SC/ST students should get a minimum of 40% marks (variations may exist according to institution or state).
  • Students who are in their final year of schooling (Class 12) and have not yet received their results can also apply and gain provisional admission, subject to meeting the required eligibility at the time of admission.
