In Uttar Pradesh, admission to BDS or Bachelor of Dental Surgery is controlled by Directorate General of Medical Education & Training (DGME), Lucknow and entirely comes through the NEET exam scores. State level NEET counselling allots medical and dental seats in government and government-aided colleges in all states. The steps and process involved in the application process are online registration of UP NEET counselling, filling-in of colleges choice, verification of document, and paying of fee.

The allotment of seats is also based on merit in accordance to the NEET scores and the choice of the candidates with almost 2,450 BDS seats available in many colleges around the state. Government college fee hikes are in the range of INR 50,000 to 100,000 and this is lower than the fees that are charged by the private colleges. Once the verification of documents and the counselling are successful, then candidates are required to pay the fee and represent themselves in the assigned college to continue their studies.
